IMPORTANT NOTE

Runners who anticipate finishing after 1 hour and 15 minutes should be aware that there will be a 'sweeper' vehicle travelling at around this pace to indicate the opening of the road to traffic. After the vehicle passes runners can of course continue to complete the course exercising caution and proceeding as a prudent and careful pedestrian.

RACE START POINT

The race starts in Linlithgow High Street and finishes in the historic Linlithgow Palace Peel area.

RACE NUMBER & TIMING CHIP
Your race number and timing chip must be collected on the day of the race, between 12pm – 1.30pm at the Race HQ, Linlithgow Burgh Halls, The Cross, Linlithgow EH49 7AH. This is in the centre of town, not far from the start. Follow signs on the day.

NUMBERS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE.

TRAVEL and PARKING

Linlithgow is a well connected town with access to both M9 and M8 motorways.

Linlithgow railway station is a short walk from the start and finish.

There are several car parks in the town. Examples: (1) The Oracle factory car park - off the Blackness Road to the east of the town. (2) New station overflow car park off the Edinburgh Road to the east of the town (adjacent to cricket club). (3) Long stay car park adjacent to Tesco's. (4) Loch side car parks, accessed from Water Yett and St Ninians Way. (5) Weekend car park behind County Buildings. (6) The Vennel car park at the Cross (charges).

TOILETS

Public toilets are situated in The Vennel, west of the Cross and the race start – close to the library. There are also limited toilet facilities at the race HQ.

ASSEMBLY AND MUSTER

All competitors should be assembled at The Cross, by 2:10pm. There will be signs on the day to direct the runners towards this. Following the pre-race briefing, runners will be led to the start area. Please be aware that these arrangements differ from last year. Please follow start instructions given by officials. There are no changing and showering facilities available, so make sure that you know where or with whom you leave your belongings. The race will start at 2:30pm by the sound of a klaxon.

THE ROUTE

Linlithgow is a fairly hilly town, and the route is undulating and quite challenging. It is advisable to study the route plan and if possible familiarise yourself with the terrain. The route narrows behind the loch, and this makes overtaking difficult during this part of the race, which is around the halfway point. Please obey the signals and directions given by route stewards – for safety reasons please do not wear headphones.

DISTANCE MARKERS

All distance markers for the race will be shown in kilometres.

10 kilometres is approximately 6.2 miles

REFRESHMENTS
There will be a water station on the course and at the finish of the race.
