12.                   Falkirk Parkrun                                 the month of November only (best time taken)

The races have been selected to represent the feedback from club members and provide a variety of events spread across the year.  The events selected are, in the majority, local races that are easy to enter and represent the types of races that the current club members are targeting. Apologies if your favourite race is not in the list.

Note a slight change in format for Falkirk parkrun this year. Only times from the month of November will be included. A summary of everyone’s position in the competition will be given before the start of November and updated every week to give you 4 opportunities at putting down a decent time. Perhaps we’ll see the leaderboard change a few times…

In the event of a tie, a head to head performance will be taken into consideration (first placed runner declared winner), followed by number of events completed (highest declared winner).

If an athlete completes more than 5 races, then the athlete’s best 5 will be taken into consideration.

It is an athlete’s responsibility to enter themselves for the designated races and cover the cost.

Handicap

There will also be a prize awarded for the best male and best female based upon a handicap scoring system. The handicap for each athlete will be calculated before the first event of the year (Falkirk national xc) against the fastest 10k time by a senior athlete in 2016. Therefore, to be considered for the handicap prize you must provide your own personal fastest 10k time of 2016. If you do not have a 10k time, then please provide your fastest 5k time. If you have neither of these please get in touch. Your handicap time should be emailed to John Redding at jeredding@hotmail.com under the subject “2017 club championship handicap”.

In the interests of being fair, open and honest if there is anyone who would like to know more about how the handicap will be calculated please contact John Redding at the above email address.

WAVA

There will also be an individual male and female prize for the best age graded performance according to WAVA. This can only be calculated on standard race distances (i.e. 5k, 10k etc) therefore will not apply to Dumyat and Blackrock 5.

Cross Country

As 2016, there will be a male and female cross country champion. 3 races from the 3 east league matches (Broxburn has already been completed), the national champs, the short course champs and the district champs. Points will be scored in a similar fashion to the main championships

Good luck to all athletes.

club champs update 17 Oct 17

posted 17 Oct 2017, 12:27 by John Redding   [ updated 18 Oct 2017, 01:58 ]

We are heading into the final rounds of this year’s club championship competition. The results have been calculated so far and it’s tight at the top. Just 3 points separating 2nd – 4th in the men’s league and also 2 points from 1st to 4th in the handicap. There are still points up for grabs in the women’s competition too with some athletes still to complete their 5th event.

If you haven’t already, please send me details of any half marathons (except Alloa) or marathon races that you have done this year for me to include at jeredding@hotmail.com

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT….

In the month of November, you will have 4 opportunities to run the Falkirk Parkrun. After each weekend the results will be updated and distributed so everyone knows what they need to do to stay in contention. Hopefully we’ll see some chopping and changing in the medal positions over this month.

Good luck
