The Scottish National 5k Road Race Championships were held last Wednesday along the foreshore at Silverknowes, Edinburgh. The pan-flat, tarmac course provides the ideal opportunity for a quick time and also the chance to compete against the best athletes the nation has to offer. Three runners took part in Linlithgow AC colours, with John Redding first home for the club, coming 40th in a personal best time of 16:41. Ian Logan followed soon after for 57th in 17:11. Another excellent run by Andrew Fischbacher, 62nd overall in a PB time of 17:23, earned him 13th position in the Junior Male category.

After a break of a couple of months to allow some path upgrade work to be carried out in Callendar Park, Falkirk parkrun resumed at the weekend. The weekly, timed 5k event is free which may be one of the reasons that it is popular with Linlithgow AC athletes, who turned up in numbers to help celebrate its return. LAC times, selected from the record field of 192 runners were:-

11 David Marshall, 19:02, PB

26 Scott Hyslop, 21:17, PB

32 Gerry McArdle, 21:35, PB

34 Malcolm Hughes, 21:41

52 Mark Anderson, 22:40

61 Louisa Cockburn, (5th Female), 23:12, PB

62 Ian McMahon, 23:14, PB

66 Darren Dick, 23:36, PB

92 Brian Couper, 24:54, PB

93 Hilary Stocks, (15th F), 24:55

110 Eoin Richardson, 26:11, PB

111 Matt Richardson, 26:13

123 Alison Marshall, (26th F), 27:28

On Sunday, Ian Logan took part in the Tri-Trail race at Foxlake, near Dunbar. The scenic course takes the runners through 17km of coastal trails, beaches and muddy fields. The Tri-Trail series of races is becoming increasingly popular within the running community and no more so than with Ian after taking 3rd place at the event.
