This weekend saw a tale of 2 parkruns, and boggy yomp around the Pentland
Hills for Linlithgow athletes. Saturday morning saw a large contingent head off to Edinburgh parkrun, the
mission being to collect as many new PBs as possible. For once there was no wind
blasting off the Forth, and club members were delighted with their mornings
efforts. Charlotte Fortune took another podium place to finish as 2nd Female and
to set a new PB, and there were PBs for 5 other club members. Results in full
are as follows: John Redding 16th 18:08, Charly Fortune 22nd (2nd F) 18:31 new
PB, Gerry McArdle 55th 20:10 new PB, Mark Pullan 76th 20:38 new PB, David
Marshall 77th 20:40, Darren Dick 108th 21:54 new PB, Frances Wood 109th (11th F)
21:57 new PB, Hilary Stocks 112th (14th F) 22:01 new PB.
Meanwhile at Falkirk parkrun there were more podium places as Linlithgow
athletes took 2nd and 3rd places. Andrew Fischbacher finished 2nd with a new PB
of 17:51, Colin McCluskie finished 3rd in 18:07, and Malcolm Hughes was 22nd
with a time of 21:11.
The Baddingsgill Round hill race took place on Sunday, covering a very
hilly route across the Pentlands near to West Linton. The 11.4 mile race
included a total of 700m ascent over across open rough ground. There was little
in the way of paths or tracks to follow, so picking a good route between the
various checkpoints was important to try to minimise the amount of time running
through boggy areas. With lots of heathery areas to cross, this was a tough race
to complete on a warm day. Finishing in 9th place, David Mason completed the
route in 1:58:37. Malcolm Hughes was 31st in a time of 2:27:51 and Graeme Lawson
was 37th in a time of 3:02:37. |
